The Chance

In the void before all time began,
In the still before the storm,
In the cosmic stardust purity,
Two spirits took their form.
They circled in uncertainty,
Revolved into romance.
They sensed each other with a touch
And resolved to take the chance.

To solve the riddle of the heart,
Just open up your hands.
You’ll hear the voice upon the wind,
Taste rain in desert lands.
You’ll never know the way to move,
The secrets of the dance.
You can’t make nothing all alone.
You need to take the chance.

Roam across the desolate world.
Flee the inner hell.
Deny the knowledge of your self
And stamp upon its shell.
Shake your fist and shout and hiss
And cast a futile lance.
But there won’t be a shred of peace
Unless you take the chance.

The universe is vast and deep.
You’re not the only one
To feel the weight of gravity
Or the heat of a loaded gun.
Your thoughts keep circling round and round
In every circumstance.
Don’t pull the trigger, wait a bit.
Just give yourself a chance.

To brush another living soul
Is to know that it is free.
And to love it is to grant the room
To be all that it may be,
Free to leap the sun and moon,
To strike a gypsy's stance,
To grow up tall and praise the earth
For giving it the chance.

The sweetest pleasure you can know,
Beneath the blazing skies,
Is to see your sorrow disappear
In the pools of your lover’s eyes.
And you’ll renew forsaken hope
With just a single glance.
Without each other on the road,
You’d never get the chance.

The mountains and the lowland plains
Are waiting for your song.
Cast your bread upon the sea,
The waves might sing along.
Keep your dark eyes open wide.
Don’t fall into a trance.
See the naked light of truth,
And be glad you’ve got the chance.
