Tao of Love
To love is not to love too much to love
is not to reach for more than what you hold
is not to dream the dream you’re dreaming of
is not to tell the tale the tale you told
is not to miss the miss or be unmissed,
to be as dark as the center of the sun,
as blissful as a kisser long unkissed,
is not to do it or leave it yet undone,
that is, the thing engendered in the bower,
the death wish sealed within the winter frost,
measured out in lifetimes by the hour,
lingering not for lonely lifetimes lost,
for wisest of them all shall know that love
is more than love when it is less than love.
